The mission of the National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC)
is to increase the capacity of health care and mental health programs
to design, implement and evaluate culturally and linguistically
competent service delivery systems. The NCCC is a collaborative
project between the Georgetown University Child Development Center
and Federal government agencies. NCCC home page: http://gucdc.georgetown.edu/nccc/cultural.html
Multicultural Health Best Practices Overview
http://www.diversityrx.org/BEST/index.html
This report describes best practices in three areas: (a) culturally
competent health services, (b) policy development and research in
multicultural health and (c) community capacity building. It comments
on factors that facilitate or hinder the implementation and replication
of best practices. It also identifies gaps in knowledge about best
practices, areas that require additional attention or investment,
and potential directions.
Cross Cultural Health Care Program "Voices of the Communities"
http://www.xculture.org/home/nobarriers/lessons/index.html
In 1995 the Cross Cultural Health Care Program sponsored the "Voices
of the Communities" survey in which members of under-served
populations spoke out about their health care experiences. In the
process, many important lessons were learned about working with
communities in a culturally competent manner.
